The Missing Middle

Momentous Fund exists to bridge the gap between incubating assistive technology and large scale commercial and institutional capital by building the foundational ecosystem for AT startups in Africa.

Who We Are

Disability-led
from the top.

AT4D is a spin-out of the Innovate Now Accelerator, delivered by the Global Disability Innovation Hub through the UK government-funded AT2030 programme. We have built the continent's largest network of AT startups and the infrastructure to support them — from venture building to research to investment readiness.

Our leadership, advisory board, and investment committee all include people with lived experience of disability. This isn't incidental. It's the foundation of every decision we make.

Investment Focus

Four areas.
Infinite potential.

Wheelchairs, prosthetics, and movement-enabling technologies designed for African contexts and terrain.

AAC devices, speech synthesis, and language access tools that enable full participation in society.

Accessible learning platforms and adaptive educational technology for learners of all abilities.

Smart home solutions, daily living aids, and personal care technologies that enable autonomy and dignity.

Access to assistive technology is about more than products; it's about dignity, independence, and full participation in society.

Our Approach

Moving beyond writing cheques,
into building the ecosystem
for AT venture success.

Six Pillars

Structured support.
Real results.

01

Structured Investment

Flexible instruments — SAFE notes, convertible notes, direct equity, and revenue-based financing — matched to each venture's stage and needs.

02

Venture Building

Technical assistance, product validation, governance frameworks, and go-to-market support embedded in every portfolio relationship.

03

Evidence Generation

Impact measurement, user research, and the Momentous Playbook — building the evidence base that the broader market needs to follow.

04

Market Building

Research and thought leadership to expand the investable AT ecosystem. We don't wait for markets — we help build them.

05

Strategic Partnerships

Distribution networks, co-investment opportunities, and ecosystem access that opens doors portfolio companies couldn't reach alone.

06

Governance Support

Board development, financial management, and compliance frameworks that de-risk ventures and build investor confidence.

The Economic Case

AT is infrastructure,
not aid.

The numbers are unambiguous. Assistive technology delivers measurable economic and social returns at scale. The question is not whether to invest — it's how fast we can mobilise capital to meet the opportunity.

AT4D's thesis: validate the commercial case through structured investment and real portfolio data. De-risk through governance and transparency. Then crowd in larger pools of impact and commercial capital.

Our Mission

Building the foundation
for an Africa-led
AT investment ecosystem.

We are building more than a fund. Every investment, every governance framework, every piece of evidence we generate is a building block toward an investable, scalable, and essential asset class — one that the world can no longer ignore.
